CNN to Host First Democratic Presidential Debate

CNN will host the first Democratic presidential debate on Oct. 13th, the network announced on Thursday.

The debate, pitting frontrunner Hillary Clinton against Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders, former Maryland Gov. Martin O’Malley, former Rhode Island Gov. Lincoln Chafee and former Virginia Sen. Jim Webb, will take place in Nevada.

CNN is already hosting a Republican presidential debate on Sept. 16th, so securing the Democratic debate is a major coup for the network.

Like most cable news networks, CNN has been close to wall-to-wall this week in covering Thursday’s GOP debate; the network also had the first national TV interview with Hillary Clinton as a candidate for president.

It’s not clear which CNN anchor will moderate the debate, but Wolf Blitzer, Jake Tapper and Anderson Cooper will certainly be a big part of the network’s coverage.
